About
In this special concert for International Women’s Day, we present ‘QUINES’, a programme celebrating female Scottish composers and neglected women from Scottish history. The heart of this programme is the world-premier of a brand new song-cycle written for the Collective by Lisa Robertson. This new cycle sets texts by acclaimed poet Gerda Stevenson, sung in the voices of 5 incredible women from Scottish history.
Find out more about these women at: www.bubblyjockcollective.com/quines
The rest of the programme will feature chamber music and artsong by Scottish composers Marie Dare, Isobel Dunlop, Claire Liddell and Helen Hopekirk. All of these women deserve to be known and celebrated for their individual styles and contributions to the music scene.
The new commission is generously supported by Vaughan Williams Foundation and Hope Scott Trust.
